What We Should Expect From The New Democratic Majority.

At least one exit poll found that corruption was the number one issue for 90 percent of voters. That’s not surprising given that the Trump regime has been the most corrupt in U.S. history. So, in addition to addressing inflation, the Iran war, the Epstein files and other of the nation’s most pressing issues, the new Democratic majority should lead numerous investigations of Trump and his entire crime family.

Unfortunately, there may never be any real accountability for these crooks, since the investigations are likely to trigger dozens more presidential pardons in addition to those Trump has already offered to the highest bidders. (Yet another form of corruption by the crime family.)

And though I believe a third impeachment of Trump would be an exercise in futility, it’s likely that Hegseth, Blanche and RFK Jr. could be impeached and convicted for cause, as well as Justices Thomas and Alito for their obvious and egregious lack of ethics by accepting gifts.

But rooting out corruption must not be the sole focus of the new Congress. Democrats will need to find solutions for an enormous number of problems that were either created by Republicans or ignored and allowed to fester.

These include removing unnecessary tariffs, improving access to health care and lowering costs, banning stock trading by elected officials, implementing term limits across the entire federal government, eliminating the deficit and reducing our now $40 trillion national debt by making everyone – especially billionaires – pay their fair share of taxes.

The new Congress should stabilize Social Security by eliminating the cap on FICA payments. It should raise the minimum wage and break up the monopolies that now dominate almost every industry. It should restore funding for medical research. It should reinstate military leaders who were fired just for their gender and the color of their skin. And it should neuter the ICEstapo by clawing back funding and holding agents accountable for their actions.

It should create true immigration reform, restore funding for public education, and reinstate the Fairness Doctrine to ensure that media report the truth and act in the public interest (bye-bye Fox News, NewsMax, OANN, and Truth Social.)

Congress should pass laws restoring the right of women to control their own bodies, enshrining separation of church and state into law, eliminating the Electoral College, and repealing Buckley v. Valeo and Citizens United v. FEC to prevent billionaires and others from buying elections.

It should aggressively address climate change by restoring incentives for renewable energy while ending subsidies for fossil fuels. And it should reassert control of our nation’s capital, including the White House, the Kennedy Center, and all other public buildings.

The goal should be to restore fairness, honesty, integrity and transparency to every aspect of the federal government as well as to the historical accounts of our nation.

Admittedly, this is a long and imposing list and Trump is likely to block or veto legislation. But if we truly want to ensure the future of democracy and heal the nation, the new Democratic majorities in Congress cannot be timid.
